Colorado Springs City Council District 2 Candidate

Statement of Interest For Appointment to the Colorado Springs City Council – District 2

Introduction & Motivation
As a resident of Colorado Springs since 2020 and of District 2 since 2023, I am honored to call this community my home. For the past 18 years, I have dedicated my career to public service, including nearly a decade in uniformed active duty. I am seeking appointment to the City Council because I believe local government is where public service makes the most immediate and lasting difference.

District 2 represents so much of what makes Colorado Springs unique; strong families, innovative businesses, natural beauty, and a deep sense of civic pride. I want to help ensure that our district grows responsibly, remains safe and connected, and that residents always have a meaningful voice in shaping its future.

Experience & Qualifications
My professional background in public service has given me extensive experience in decision-making, accountability, and results-driven leadership. I’ve learned how to assess data objectively, manage complex operations, and communicate across diverse communities to solve problems collaboratively.

In addition to my professional career, I’ve served on the D20 Parent Sounding Board here in Colorado Springs and previously participated in local emergency services; including as a emergency response team board member and part of a city historic redevelopment committee in another community. Those experiences strengthened my appreciation for public-private collaboration, local history, and the importance of community resilience.

Vision & Priorities for District 2
My vision for District 2 is simple: a district that grows smartly while keeping its small-community feel.
To achieve this, I would focus on four priorities:
  1. Responsible Growth & Infrastructure – Promote transparent, data-informed development that aligns with our infrastructure capacity, preserves open space, and ensures that residents’ voices guide the process from the start.
  2. Traffic & Connectivity – Improve coordination between transportation planning and neighborhood needs to reduce congestion and ensure our roads and transit systems keep pace with growth.
  3. Public Safety – Strengthen support for our police, fire, and emergency services while expanding community-based safety and preparedness programs.
  4. Transparency & Fiscal Responsibility – Uphold accountable, open decision-making and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. I believe fiscal discipline and smart investment can go hand in hand with community progress.

Approach to Leadership
I am a data-informed and fiscally responsible decision-maker who values collaboration over ideology. I believe effective leadership means listening first, evaluating evidence carefully, and balancing today’s needs with long-term sustainability.

My goal is to foster trust between residents and their elected officials, and between neighborhoods and City Hall. By maintaining open communication and focusing on practical solutions, we can make Colorado Springs an even better place to live, work, and raise families.

Conclusion
Serving on the City Council would allow me to continue a lifelong commitment to public service, but now in direct partnership with the community I’m proud to call home. I would be honored to represent District 2 and help ensure that our city’s growth reflects the values, priorities, and aspirations of the people who live here.
